Thanks for patiently waiting for my update to the blog, day 8 was our journey to Southeast Oklahoma to spend the week visiting family. We started the day with no rain, but the humidity made up for it as we were dripping wet after tear down and hook up. I believe I prefer rain as it is much cooler and we are pretty good at working in the rain. Our journey is only 330 miles today or about 5 hours. We are trying to stick to the rule of thumb of traveling only 300 miles a day.
Theresa navigated us to a perfect stop for gas and lunch. Easy to get to the pumps and parking was great for a big rig like ourselves. Uneventful stop half way into our journey and Theresa gets a big Gold Star for picking a great place to stop. The drive was very scenic through Arkansas with mountains, hills and lots of water. As we entered Oklahoma the scenery began to look very familiar and Theresa captured some photos of city signs that we would love to see who can identify the celebrity associated with the city.
Road ratings update, Arkansas roads were good with no real bad areas and Oklahoma was good for the most part as well. So worst roads awards by state is still Pennsylvania and by city is Memphis, Tennessee.
We made it to Arrow Head State Park around 4pm and we were very impressed with the RV site. The site is large and shaded from the sun with great trees. We had a quick and successful setup with the RV including finally breaking out the carpet and chairs. Forecast for the week is sunny and no rain! We are also near Lake Eufaula which you will see pictures showing the impact of all the rain, brown water.
We headed over to see my Mom and sister as the RV cooled down for an amazing fajitas dinner. It has been a few years since we visited everybody in Oklahoma with last time seeing everyone was in Kansas City the summer of 2023. We enjoy hanging out at the Pulchny Resort.
We are looking forward to a great week with family.
