Day 11 & 12 – Family Fun & Getting Ready for the Next Leg of Our Adventure

Back for a day eleven and twelve update from beautiful Southeast Oklahoma. Wednesday was a busy and productive day with the truck to the shop, shopping at Walmart and Lowes, pedicure (Theresa) and squeezing in a round of golf to end the day. We had an issue with the passenger side floor being very wet so took the truck to the local dealership to get it fixed. The good news they were able to locate the issue. The bad news it is not an easy fix. The condensate drain for the A/C has a dime size hole in it and it will require two days to repair due to needing to remove the dash. So the amazing service manager put on his MacGyver hat and did a temporary fix with a tire patch to get us through our journey. Number one thing on the list completed by 10am, yeah! Completed the rest of the shopping stops and then it was back to the RV to show off to Theresa the new items I bought for the RV. We spent the rest of the day at the Pulchny Resort having great conversation with my Mom, sister Kathleen and brother-in-law Ronnie. Mom fixed brisket for dinner and blackberry cobbler. So we are definitely not going hungry with all the fantastic and delicious food. Thanks again Mom and Kathleen for taking awesome care of us! Wednesday wrapped up with Theresa going with the ladies for a pedicure and the guys went to play golf.

RV tip of the day – Emptying the Black Tank in the dark is a challenge as the light attracks every bug in a 5 mile radius! So note to self, empty Black Tank before dark!

Thursday has been a productive day as we get ready to head to Kansas City on Friday. Started the day with going to Lowes to get some supplies for fixing the valance and getting an indoor bug catcher. Mosquitos love our green RV! Also I killed two of the biggest flying bugs that I have ever seen in the RV. Good news the valance is fixed and completed a few other minor things around the RV. I am getting pretty good at being the RV handyman. One of the shopping surprises I got for Theresa was a counter top ice maker. She fired it up and it works great, no more buying ice.

We spent the afternoon with Mom, Kathleen and Ronnie exploring the city of Eufuala. We started with a great lunch at a restaurant right on the lake. We then explored the downtown shops and purchased some Oklahoma souvenirs for the grandkids. We then toured the surrounding communities with Carlton Landing being the highlight. I have provided pictures below that show the view from Carlton Landing. We wrapped the visit at the Pulchny Resort with dessert, more blackberry cobbler, yummy! Kathleen surprised us with her homemade bread for us to enjoy as we continue are travels. The bread is a Pulchny family recipe from the Mathilda Creek Region in Oklahoma, so very special. Theresa and I will definitely need to continue are morning Yoga and chair excercises after all the great food this week.

We had an amazing time, thanks again Mom, Kathleen and Ronnie for the hospitality. We love and miss you guys already! Sharing some additional photos from the week.

We are excited to head to Kansas City tomorrow to enjoy time with family and friends. And of course some great BBQ!
