Happy Saturday! Theresa and I are having an amazing time and we had smooth travels to Kansas City yesterday. Theresa navigated us to another successful stop at Loves for gas and lunch. We did not get a picture of the “Welcome to Kansas” sign as it was raining of course as we crossed the stateline. We also don’t believe a sign was present either. Theresa enjoyed the drive due to the traffic being very light on our route. We quickly knew we were in Kansas when we could see for miles due to being so flat. Also familiar views as I traveled these roads for many years when I covered this area.
So the fun began as we were about 45 miles out from our stop at the KOA in Lawrence, Kansas. The RV Life GPS app that we are using for our travels stopped working and thank goodness we realized it stopped working. We would have missed our exit and ended up touring more of Kansas or worse have to backup out of trouble. Theresa navigated us the rest of the way and kept me on point as I was freaking out a bit about the GPS not working. What would we do without GPS, go back to Map Quest? It was a good test for me with listening to Theresa and not causing her to want to kill me!
We made it safely to the KOA and checked in. The cool thing we had a personal escort to our RV spot. We have had issues with finding our spot so this was a plus versus us taking the scenic route to our spot. Next was a proud moment for me, the little things get me excited! Record time for set-up! We were sitting in our theater seats before 5pm and cooling down in the A/C. We were both hungry but no desire to cook. Easy choice for me for dinner, Minsky’s Pizza. Top of our list for pizza as we love their Tostada Pizza. Ordered and then the fun began picking it up. The good news it was close to the RV park. The bad news it was in the old downtown area where there is limited parking. Navigating old downtown streets in an F250 is not ideal but I was able to find a spot that didn’t require me trying my parallel parking skills in a Big Truck! Though that would have provided some entertainment for my post. We enjoyed the pizza and finished up the new series we had been watching on Netflix. The Waterfront was the Netflix series and we enjoyed it.
We are looking forward to spending time with family and friends this week before we head to Colorado next Thursday. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
