We are nearly 3 weeks on the road now with over 2,000 miles under our belt. Today is an exciting day as we make our way to Fort Collins, Colorado. We will spend time with family for the next two weeks enjoying the outdoor wonders of Colorado.
We started our day early as we learned the day before that wind is not our friend. The trip started off with very light traffic as we expected with the holiday. The drive was much more pleasant as the wind was not a factor and the gas mileage showed the change. We reached Colorado quickly. However, the scenery doesn’t change until you get closer to Denver still flat and you can see forever. That is when the mountains appear on the horizon, incredible view. We made a stop for gas at our favorite stop, Love’s. before heading North to Fort Collins. The Love’s was very busy and challenged all my RV navigating skills. We have learned to go to the last pump and I aligned it perfectly for an easy exit. Another successful stop executed by Theresa as the amazing navigator.
North we go to Fort Collins on I-25 where the traffic increased to rush hour busy. We had planned to stop at Bucee’s. Due to traffic, we decided to wait until another day because it is only 30 minutes from our RV park. A brisket sandwich is in our future. Theresa will need to watch her back. There may be a wanted poster for her after the incident in Tennessee.
We made it safely to the Fort Collins KOA and we were set-up in record time. Theresa and I are figuring out how to better tag team the set-up. The KOA is busy as expected with campers and families everywhere. We were hoping for a better view. We have quickly learned that KOAs are not located in the most scenic areas.
The rest of the day was resting and grabbing dinner at Culver’s. We can check that off the list as we have not had Culver’s since moving to the Northeast. We are not big fans of fireworks so we did not venture out for the local displays. We decided to watch a movie instead enjoying some Costco microwave popcorn. The best popcorn and highly recommend it. As it was getting late, we realized there was a power issue. The bedroom A/C was not working, and the lights were pulsating. I went through the checks of the battery, power hookup and nothing was working. So I headed to the office to request help thinking the power hook-up was the issue. As I was walking back, I realized that I had not checked the breakers. I quickly checked and the breaker for the converter was tripped. The KOA tech showed up and I thanked him for coming and let him know the problem was fixed. I am sure with the A/C units running and the microwave may have caused the breaker to trip. Another RV lesson learned and we are definitely learning still everyday.
Happy Fourth of July from Fort Collins, Colorado! We are Lovin the RV adventure!
