Happy Saturday! I am writing this update from beautiful Pinedale, Wyoming. We continued our family time this week in Fort Collins with Kevin, brother, and Colleen, sister in-law. We enjoyed time exploring great restaurant options and the outdoor beauty of the area.
We attempted to paddle board but Mother Nature was not our friend this week. It was either too windy, too hot or rainy and cold. We pivoted to touring the Celestial Seasoning facility and visiting Estes Park for a great lunch. We had lunch at one of Colleen’s favorites in Estes, Claire’s Restaurant and Bar.
We also had some fun adventures with using the GPS to Kevin and Colleen’s Airbnb. The GPS navigated us to the wrong house and we got to meet an angry homeowner which was not fun. We learned a valuable lesson. Apple Maps doesn’t make up for reading a mailbox. This is the advice the angry homeowner gave us as well.
One night we had dinner at the Ginger and the Baker which we enjoyed with the Richter Family as well. After dinner, we were spending time browsing in the country store at the restaurant and met the Baker. Deb is the head chef and she gave us a tour and shared the history of the restaurant. Incredible story and we enjoyed the tour immensely. I came back the next day and I purchased a slice of cherry pie. It is supposed to be the best in Fort Collins and it did not disappoint.
We explored Horsetooth reservoir where we were planning to paddle board. Amazing views and enjoyed the time exploring with Kevin and Colleen. We also had to take a road trip to Buc-ees as Keven and Colleen had not visited before. We took full advantage of our last visit to Buc-ees.
We wrapped up our time with Kevin and Colleen having brunch at the Original Pancake House. We love and miss you guys already. We are glad that you made time to hang out with us in Fort Collins.
Now a word from my beautiful bride that I get to share this amazing adventure with.
I thought I’d get a word in. Chris does a fantastic job of writing, mine is not as good.
I have had the time of my life on this trip. chis is the best. he surprised me with this sabbatical, buying a camper, new truck, and going across the country. something I have been wanting to do for 30 years. its been wonderful going to the different places. seeing places I’ve never been to, going to see family and friends and having wonderful adventures with them. we have had challenges along the way. having to make u turns with the camper, having to back the camper, getting gas with the camper. its not a huge camper, but its big. we call her the Beast. we have gone ,through all kinds of mountain ranges. the Appalachians, smoky and blue ridge mountains. the Rockies, and up to Rocky Mountain national forest. now we are in Wyoming next to a beautiful mountain range I don’t know what its called. but its pretty. We’ve gotten to see parts of Oklahoma that are very pretty. Who knew. went white water rafting which was very fun. e almost flipped and died because of 2 people up front. I won’t say names but they are Chris and Kenny. They got fired. tried to go paddle boarding, but of course the weather didn’t let us. Rain follows us wherever we go. Needless to say, there are not a lot of pictures of me. Rain and my hair do not go well together. I look like I have a poodle that got stuck in a wind tunnel sitting on top of my head. We have eaten at some really great restaurants. my favorite is called Ginger and Baker . We got a personal tour from Deb Traylor. I think it’s a place comparable to magnolia farms, but older and more history. So if your in Ft Collins make sure to go there. So we ar halfway through our trip. We are heading to many new places. This is all thanks to friends and family we got to see. We had a great time with them. Family and friends make everything the best.
