Day 35-38: Exploring Pinedale, The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks

Happy Sunday! Sorry for the delay in providing updates. Theresa and I have been having a blast checking out the amazing things to see in the area. The day trips and enjoying the area has caused me to be distracted or just lazy on updating the Blog. The following is the recap of our time in Pinedale, Wyoming.

The first full day in Pinedale was recovery from driving the day before. Apparently, we are not as young as we used to be. It seems like we always need a recovery day! Good excuse to just enjoy the beautiful weather and each others company. The one thing we learned quickly about Pinedale is it is crazy windy at about 3pm everyday. We spent time checking out the state park. It included Fremont Lake, which is the second largest natural lake in Wyoming. You will see some pictures below.

The next day we made the road trip to Jackson, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We always enjoy the drives as the scenery is just amazing and different every where we go. Wyoming provides such a vast array of arid, wet lands, creeks, rivers, lakes and beautiful National Parks. You see it all when you travel from Pinedale to Yellowstone.

We stopped in Jackson for a quick lunch break and enjoyed the new Snack Wraps at McDonald’s. We have been to Jackson many times and we did not do the tourist thing here. We headed towards the Grand Tetons. We couldn’t have picked a better day. The skies were clear, offering a perfect view of the incredible Grand Tetons. You will see many photos posted in the Blog to enjoy them as well.

We made our way to Yellowstone with our destination being Old Faithful. The drive through Yellowstone was breath taking and one of the best views in the country in my opinion. We were hoping to see some wildlife like Buffalo, Elk or Moose. The time of day was not in our favor. Still, we did see a few Elk on the way out of Yellowstone. The highlight was the capturing of Old Faithful going off in a selfie which happened ten minutes after we arrived. I like to refer to this as the Dobson Luck! We captured amazing pictures and I have shared most of them in the Blog.

We spent the majority of the day enjoying the beauty of the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks. We also enjoyed a beautiful sunset as we drove back to Pinedale and arrived just before dark.

We intended to head back to the Grand Tetons on our last day in Pinedale. However, our bodies had a different idea. We enjoyed sleeping in and doing things around the RV to prepare for our journey to Dillon, Montana.

On July 22, we packed up. We hit the road by 8:30 AM to stay ahead of the winds. Our destination was Dillon, Montana. The trip was uneventful and Theresa as the master navigator kept us on track with pit stops and gas stops. We rolled into Dillon, Montana on our two day stop to break up the trip to Glacier National Park. We enjoyed a local pizza place, Stageline Pizza, and highly recommend is you happen to be in Dillon, Montana.

Enjoy the pictures and I will be providing an update on our field trip while in Dillon, Montana shortly.
