Day 52 – 55: Enjoying Time with Family in Madison, South Dakota

Day 52 started as any travel day starts with packing up the RV for our journey to the next stop. We had a short drive today. This was good because the winds are gusty. The conditions were close to being dangerous to travel with the RV. We are excited to get to Madison as it has been a long while since we visited. We used to spend nearly every Fourth of July in Madison with Theresa’s family. The drive was slow and steady through the winds and we were getting only 5.5 miles to the gallon. Theresa did a masterful job once again navigating and making sure we stopped for gas at the right place. We rolled in early afternoon at Theresa’s Aunt and Uncle’s farm, Mary and Earl Cole. They were very hospitable with providing us a place to park and hook up the RV. Thanks Earl and Mary for taking great care of us!

The Cole Farm is beautiful and the sunsets are amazing. We enjoyed the week visiting with everyone and Theresa was so grateful that everyone made time for us. Earl was our chauffeur and tour guide all week. We had great food at the local restaurants where Earl and Mary love to visit. We definitely did not go hungry all week. We also enjoyed Earl’s bar in the basement of their house. We learned what a Shouse is and we are looking to do something similar when we retire. Theresa is starting to narrow the list for retirement places. Wyoming, South Dakota, and Tennessee are the top three right now. Thanks Connie, Debbie, Sherry, Tom, Laverne, Jeff and Kim for taking time to have dinner with us. We had an awesome visit!

The stay at the Cole Farm was perfect and we truly appreciate the hospitality Earl and Mary. Also Theresa is loving the pumpkins and gourds!

Theresa and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary on August 7. I am so lucky to have found my soulmate (lobster) and it has been an amazing 32 years! Love You Sweetie! And yes we are having a great time RVing across the country together so many more anniversaries to come!

The week flew by and we headed out on day 55 for our next stop in Rochester, Minnesota. Thanks everyone for following and I hope everyone has a great weekend! Go Chiefs!
