Happy Friday from Ann Arbor, Michigan! We are continuing to have a great time. I am going to do a recap of our three last stops. We are in the home stretch to get back home on August 20. We chose the route home through the UP of Michigan wisely. We missed the flooding in the lower part of Wisconsin. We have not missed the rain as we experienced rain nearly the whole time we were in Rochester, Minnesota. Rochester, day 56, was stock up time as we were near a Costco. So nothing exciting in Rochester and we had the fun of breaking down in the pouring rain. So we started day 57 drenched as we headed to Tomahawk, Wisconsin.
The trip to Wisconsin started off with a few hiccups as the GPS was not recognizing the road closure. We had our first real issue with agreeing on the route. I was not listening to my beautiful bride, never good! So we took a long detour until Theresa was willing to talk to me again. She took over as the master navigator and we got back on track. It was a very quiet road trip to Wisconsin as Theresa was not happy with me. We quietly enjoyed the beautiful ride through Wisconsin and made it safely to the Tomahawk RV Park. We have visited Tomahawk a couple times on vacation before. We are excited to spend time visiting our favorite places.
We spent day 58 exploring downtown Tomahawk. We had to go to the local cheese place to stock up on delicious Wisconsin cheese. Always a priority when visiting Wisconsin is stocking up on cheese, yum! We checked out the local Mexican restaurant and it was very good as well. We wrapped up our afternoon heading to our favorite place the Windmill to enjoy their amazing ice cream. The views of the lake are great. They have a dock for boats to stop for ice cream as well. We have great memories of spending time with family here on vacation. It was wonderful to take time to remember those moments. We wrapped up the day with dinner at the RV and watching a movie. Great stop in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.

Day 59 was breakdown and travel day to Curtis, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. We are excited to visit the UP as we have heard great things about the area. The journey there was beautiful as we spent most of the trip on state highways with very little traffic. We quickly learned that there is no such thing as good cell service in the UP. It also meant that streaming on the TV was going to be a challenge, not good. We arrived early afternoon and back on Eastern Time at the RV park. We had a great treed lot with no-one close by us. We setup the site with planning Day 60 for breakfast on the Blackstone and grilling steaks on the grill. Nothing better than starting the day with a hotcake breakfast on the Blackstone. We ended the day with a gully washer of a storm that gave the RV a great wash.
We spent day 60 exploring the area starting with an amazing breakfast! We stopped at the local True Value Hardware to get a coax cable. We needed it to hook up to cable. The streaming was not good and Theresa was not going to go without TV. Curtis is a quaint town on the lake and we enjoyed the 3 minute drive through town. We headed to the other side of the lake. We wanted to visit the Moose Du Nord. It was advertised as if it was a Buck-ees of the UP. It definitely was not and we almost didn’t stop as it looked a bit sketchy. We decided to get gas at the oldest pump that I have used in a long time. It didn’t even have pay at the pump. We then headed in and did some browsing of the gift shop. It was a nice place but no brisket sandwiches just pizza and coffee. We headed back to the RV and hooked up the cable TV for Theresa. We then took a walk down to the lake where Theresa found her souvenir rocks to take home. We wrapped up the day with steaks on the grill. We ended the day with a quiet evening.

Day 61 started with saying goodbye to Curtis, Michigan. We were excited about the drive today through the UP and across the Mackinaw bridge over the Great Lakes. We started the trip with a GPS issue due to poor cell signal. From our trip to Wisconsin, I learned not to move until we fixed it. So I got out of the truck and began to walk towards the RV park office. I didn’t have to go far before the GPS map finally loaded. We were all set and I was all ears when listening to the master navigator. We were not disappointed as the views were incredible along Highway 2 through the UP of Lake Michigan. The ride across the Mackinaw Bridge was incredible with amazing views. We would have loved to visit Mackinaw Island but not in the cards for this trip. The rest of the trip was on I-75 to the Ann Arbor KOA. The view reminded us a lot of the drives in the Northeast and soon the traffic was the same. We had not experienced city traffic for sometime and we definitely did not miss it. We arrived in Ann Arbor during rush hour and we set-up as if we had done this a few times. We are definitely pros at setting up now! We have been craving pizza so we got pizza from a local place Mister Pizza. It was amazing or we were just famished. I think it was both! We have a view of the lake from the back of our RV. We enjoyed another quiet evening in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We look forward to exploring the area today!
We are on the final days of our amazing adventure. I hope you have enjoyed following us on the Blog. We only have two stops left before we get back home. I hope everyone has a great weekend and look for the final posting after are next two stops.
